우리는 이제 이 방정식의 공변계가, 제한된 영역에서 특수상대성이론이 유효한 기준계 K0가 없는 때, 중력장에서의 질점의 운동을 정의한다는 가설을 세울 수 있다. 또한 (46)이 guv의 일차 도함수들만을 포함한다는 점에서 (이 일차 도함수들은 K0가 존재하는 특별한 경우조차도 서로 관련성이 없다), 우리는 이 가설이 정당함을 알 수 있다.
